Bahamian food and facts!
Bahamian cuisine is a dish that Bahamians have occasionally. It usually consists of seafood such as crab, lobster, shellfish and many more other seafood. It also consists tropical fruits, rice, peas, pigeon peas, potatoes, and pork. Bahamian cuisine sounds healthy and I bet it is. A fact about the Bahamas the word Bahamas is derived from a Spanish word 'baja mar' which means 'low tide' or 'shallow water or sea'. The Bahamas is also best known for The Bahamas are famous for their scenic beauty and year-round tropical weather. They are one of the most visited tourist spots in the world.

Script Writing Work!
On Tuesday we chose three school journals that had a play in them. We read them and found out the similarities between them. Yesterday we made a doc and chose one of the journals we read. We then typed down what we found similar between this one and the other ones. Here is some of the work that me and my group did!

Constable Taina Time!
This week and last week, we had a cop named Constable Taina come into our class and teach us about drugs, alcohol, criminals, etc. Something recent she has shared with us is how drugs and alcohol can affect us and people around us. One of the drugs that shared with us was amphetamine. Pictures were shown to us on how people changed drastically after they took this drug. Some of the reasons on why they had changed a lot is because they had hallucinations of things that weren't there. Then we looked at some people that murdered people because they were on amphetamine. Antonie Dixon was one of those people and he ended up taking his own life in jail. This is how drugs can affect people and those around them! If someone tells you to have drugs, deny their offer as it could change your life forever.

Our stress release method!
Today in the morning, our teacher decided to let us write down on paper on how we feel and to release our emotions. Whaea said that we can free write and write as much as we want. I ended up writing on 7 papers! I feel way much better now after doing that. Now I have a clear mind. Everybody ended up using a lot of papers. If your feeling angry or need to release your emotions, try this method and maybe it will help you! (:

Our Play Based Learning!
Play Based Learning
Yesterday in the middle block, our teacher Whaea Pene had
brought some things out for us.
Some of my friends and I found a box filled with fabric and clothing.
We decided to make a fort and some DIY’s for ourselves.
We ended up making a fort and turned Rose into a ghost.
We used teamwork to do all our activities!

Writing is gold with Ms Wrack
Recently we had Ms Wrack teach our writing lesson. We watched some videos on Anzac Day. We had to use our sense to imagine as if we were there on the actual battlefield. I imagined as if I was a soldier helping my allies.

Synthetic Human Project!
Today for Korowai's reading work, we read a story from ToiToi no. 8. The title was ''Synthetic Humans''. After reading this story, our group had so many questions and scenarios about how this could affect us in the future and things like that. So we decided we would give our teacher some questions and we make a presentation about a research we have found. In my next blog post, you will see the final result of the presentation our group have worked on!

~Book Review Time~
Hello Everyone! So in the weekend I read this book called ToiToi journal 9, and yes I realise its the one from the school but I forgot to return it. It was very interesting that had so many stories fulled with many subjects. It was nice to read while I was with my mum in the hospital. If I were able to I would probably end up reading that book again because it is so entertaining and it makes time pass. So read this book if your bored or just read any book that's laying around in your house or where ever you are!

~Beach Time!~
~Beach Time!~
On Saturday, instead of coming to the schools family fun day, I had my own fun day. I went to Maraetai beach with some of my family. We had a fun time bombing of the warf, playing in the sand, having a barbecue and hanging with the fam. Eventually something had gone wrong while all the families were having fun, a little kid had got hit by a car and went to hospital. Me and my family pray for the family and the kid. Other than the bad accident, we still managed to have fun. If I didn't go to the beach I still wouldn't have been able to come on Saturday cause all of my other family wasn't available to take me anywhere. I still had fun. Maybe next year I could come to Family fun day!

Hey guys this is me!
Bullavanaka and hello! My name is Skyla and I am currently a year 7 that attends Glen Taylor School or G.T.S for short. I am in Room 13, a class of 30 students and with Mrs Faalili and Whaea Pene. Some of things that I enjoy to do is eat, sleep, watch TV and playing instruments! I am European and New Zealand and many more cultures that I forgot. This year I have to push myself harder in maths because it is the subject that I am not the very best at. Besides from maths my favourite subject in school is Reading and Literacy because those are my best subjects! My inspiration for me to do my best and never give up is my mum and my teachers because they always show that passion for never giving up! I’m sure this year is going to be as great as last year and i’m going to do as well as last year! 2018 Here I come!
